Subject: Learning, Knowledge, and protecting yourself an your vision.
I have friends that are ophthalmologists. I think they are great -- IN THEIR PROFESSION -- and I respect them.
I want to be careful with my eyes -- as you do.
But I do want to understand the various "checks" that are done -- so much so that I would sit you down in the chair and have you make these measurements so you understand them.
I think that is fair. Here are the two videos that you should understand.
The issues is this: If you in fact had conditions leading to a detached retina, and ignored them, then you would have a serious problem.
But by understanding these tests -- you should be able to sort out the role you can play (and be supported by imagination-blindness) in clearing your Snellen using Bates (and other) methods.
I believe that ALL ODs and MDs should support you if you have confidence you pass these checks. I am certain that Dr. Bates would agree that this education should be part of (and preceed) a successful program as he described it in 1913. Here are the 8 minute videos.
It is good to have excellent knowledge of these checks. I always
advocate that a person be understand them.

10. SC -- Sans Correction and Pin-Holes (DOF Check).
