simit19mishra91,

You're in your first year of B.E. Does that stand for Basic English, or something else?

Thanks, Nancy. For me, the most important 'insight' was to realize, that 'perfection' is not achieved by 'the first step', but comes 'automatically' with the movement to clearer and smaller details.
Only then I realized the amount of effort and strain I was still putting in the 'act of seeing' - an effort which is not only 'unproductive' (because useless), but even 'harmful, because it makes you try to 'hold' an achieved 'clear perspective' and thus prevents from 'moving on' effortlessly.

Nini ,
thank you, that really makes sense ;) I will practise it as an habit. I actually look at contours when practising with the card. I mean looking "around" the letters that Bates recommended and with great results. I believe it will work in the real world too.

I also hope I understand it corectlly.....you mean looking(shifting) at big contours of an object at first, then looking at some edges of smaller details within the big one and so on?

Hi Minjja
It doesn't necessarily have to be smaller details within the big one.
By focussing on what you can see clearly, you already approach the 'central fixation' a little more, which results in more clearness of details. Once you shift your focus again to whatever small detail you see better now, you 'go one more step forward' towards clear sight and will be able to see even more small details ...and so on.
Keep on shifting and following the 'clearness', without trying to force it.
When you feel, that you can't proceed further - then it's enough for this time, you can at any time and at any 'level' of clearness just take up and continue your 'path', which will lead a bit further when you are ready to follow; no need to hurry.
Although it is better and easier not to make too big shifts at one time. You can let your eyes and your interest guide you in the choice where to shift next.

Ok :) thanx
but I wanted to know if you really mean the edges of things ( or details) like not looking directly at it but kind of around it

I never paid very much attention to the exact 'location', where I shift my glance; I think it is just fine the way it helps you to get things clearer (without analyzing too much).
The best results I get when I am watching TV - without 'purposely' shifting, but just allowing my eyes to follow the clearness. Then I sometimes even reach a clearer sight (for example I can read smaller subtitles) than with my old contact lenses.

Thank u NINI and NANCY.
Yes i would like to tell you a real benefit that I got this morning. As I woke up I still had that scratchy feeling in my left eye. Like you all I also have fumbled through some material on getting your eyesight back naturally, but all of a sudden a point clicked me that Thomas Quenbush said in his book that the quicker you forget that you have eyes; and make your eyes feel as soft as you can. And I forgot everything and started with my daily activities and in the afternoon all of a sudden I noticed there wasn't a slightest of scratching effect in there in my eye,it is not troubling me any more nor during computer work also!! YU HU!!
And one more thing that I felt this afternoon is my eyes really feels happy and makes you see the best when they are soft i.e. i don't mean them to make them lazy but yes don't force them or burden them rather let them do thing with ease along with that I imagine the dots or small pixels, the way DAVID sir says in his blog. ;D

And yes as DAVID sir suggested that attention must me paid to whatever you look is a must.
I mean to say is you should not be found in a position where your eyes are focusing at a place and you are thinking something else, that what most of us(mypos) typically possess!!
Thanks and enjoy whatever your eyes makes you see!!

Few days back I went through Jambo2000's posts and specially his own story,it has really motivated and guided me to the correct track. As he said in there that he used to experience a stretch in his optical nerves, even i do feel the same right these days. Its not that I felt it right now, but used to feel the stretch in those optical nerves at the back of the head but at that time I misunderstood these positive signs as some things wrong I having been doing and as result the pain might have arose. So mis-concluding I stopped that correct habits that I was doing so wasn't improving much.
Something positive I want to share with you all is I have improved my eyes by 1D in each eyes and yes that scratching in my left has vanished. Nancy madam thanks for the advice.
And I would really like to thank David sir because he is the one that actually provided the way, a step by step guidance to fight the blur rather then getting frustrated at it!!
And many others too, for real-hand guidance!!

As I m a student of final year,Bachelors of Engineering; within few days my college is going to reopen and as I have abandon wearing glasses it would be difficult for me to read what professors or lectures would write on the black board and also I find it difficult to read things written at distant due to the doubling effect; off-course I do read those bigger fonts :D . Please do suggest me a helpful solution to this problem of mine.

Use what you've learned, palm when you only have to listen (not look), sit near the front of the room close to the board if you can, look in an easy curious way, if you have to put on your glasses for a brief time to see something do so and don't fret about it, then take them off again as soon as you can. There are other students on this forum who may have more advice -- you can do it! You do not have to lose any gains you have made.

Nancy basically covered most of it. Another tip is that if you must put on your glasses, try to act as you would if you weren't wearing glasses. Just because you have glasses on is no reason not to shift, notice central fixation, etc. And it doesn't mean that you should go on auto-pilot either. Finally, try not to "blame" the glasses. Wearing glasses will slow improvement to some degree, but I have found that using it as an excuse often causes more problems. For a while, every time I had to put on glasses, I would direct a lot of negative energy towards them and I think that this pessimism was self-fulfilling: I probably strained a lot more with glasses on than I should have. Moral of the story: If you believe that something will happen (positive or negative), it probably will.

One more thing: If you find that whatever is written on the board is something that you must see, and you can't read it without glasses, then it is generally a good idea to put on glasses for a few moments to read and then take them off. It is tempting to feel that you can see just fine without them or that you can do something to temporarily improve your vision so that you can read the words, but more often than not, I have found that this causes me to stare to the point where it becomes obvious even to me (eyes trying to stretch out and read the words, head leaning forward, no breathing whatsoever). Use your common sense on this one: if you can't make out the words, either get closer, put on your glasses, or look at something else.

Something positive :D that I want to share with all mates and those who are going through the process of improvement of their eyes.
Yesterday I went for my sight test, the results are not stunning but they are optimistic ;D , I must say. My right eye improved -0.75D and my left eye improved to -0.25 D. I have got this improvement after several months. I made up my mind on not wearing glasses since last February but used to wear them but lesser frequent than before and I completed stopped using them from March or April I don't remember and in July I found the improvement. I know the improvement isn't so much that it stuns somebody but yes it improved. So all I would like to ask my mates is have little patience ::) and keep at it and be optimistic;let nature work at its pace and it will heal you up!!

Send me an e-mail for free Skype or phone lesson. I can't type all day or will burn out. I have fixed a few people with your condition. Good that you got rid of the glasses; uneven prescription in the lenses and other additions... is a main way glasses prevent improvement, cause more problems. E-mail first cause I am not on Skype all day.
