In reply to <a href="https://www.iblindness.org/2519/in-praise-of-palming/#comment-18484">Balaji</a>.

Hi Balaji. You're right to avoid glasses if you can function without them, as they'll probably cause your vision to deteriorate. They'll also cause you to develop some bad habits, like ignoring your periphery and trying to see a large area at once. Keep your focus on looking in a relaxed way and noticing details, letting the images come to you, not grabbing at them. Most of all, observe yourself, when you can see well and when you can't, and learn from that. You're on the right track!

Hey Nancy - Thank you. I have almost good vision and my distance vision is slightly deteriorating. I am 46 y/o. So far haven't worn glasses and don't intend to. I think my power was some 0.75 on one eye and 0.25 in another eye. How do I get to 20/20 vision?

Very good article Nancy! I'm going to give this a try and teach my husband and son about palming too! I've started to notice my vision isn't what it use to be, especially while reading. I just got my first pair of reader glasses and although its kind of fun, I also value my eyes and want to keep them as healthy as I can. Thank you for sharing your wisdom about palming!
