Thanks, Christopher -- these are helpful tips. Since the sun is at its lowest here in NY now, when it's out it can be glaring right in your eyes, which is hazardous for driving. This morning doing some errands I cleaned my windshield twice, since every smudge and speck of dust reflects the light. and I kept re-adjusting my visor every time I turned. A calm attitude is essential too, not rushing, and appreciating the light as a friend and helper instead of fighting it.

Another tip for driving. GLARE; stark contrast is debilitating. So being prepared for it requires some practice. Un-dipped headlights are a challenge but focusing between the two head lamps reveals the illuminated road in front of oncoming traffic possible even a kilometer away [central fixing]. Very rapid blinking is also helpful. Wet roads and street lamp glare add to the vision stress. At a cost premium you can now again get clear polarized [sun] glasses. Not the usual UV factor 40 ones. Please keep your windscreen clean inside and out. The practice of checking the brightest and the darkest patch in rapid succession in your full field of view is most useful. {Also relevant for romantic meals in restaurants with candle power} and keeps our irises working dynamically. Note too where you can see the dance of your iris size if you look at your eyes in a mirror as you move your hands acting as blinkers from brighter light. Fears in driving into the sun often get people hooked onto wearing sun glasses - our eyes need 30 minutes daily of sunshine activity vitamin C for free. Window glass has a green tint. Many spectacles and car and office block glazing have tinted foils. you have the choice.

Hi Gwen -- so nice to hear from you! Yes, I'm aware my fear of not seeing well enough in the dark is wacky :) and is closely tied to fear of the fear. The more I worry about it, the worse it is! I've seen it decrease quite a bit in the year since I originally wrote this article, though it's not yet completely gone. Walking at dusk or even after dark helps a lot. I believe when I'm fearful, I constrict my visual system so less light gets in, which of course makes seeing in general, and especially after dark, more difficult.

That's great that you're worrying less about your 2 different eyes! The left eye isn't "wrong" because it's not identical to the right one. I've heard several healers say recently that 2019 will be about being our unique selves, not who someone else thinks we should be. Your left eye seems to be doing this already. Keep appreciating her and she'll see her best for you.

Have a wonderful Christmas and New Year's, Gwen. Please keep in touch. <3

Nancy I so respect the way you use yourself as an example. I don’t have fears around seeing at night but I do have equally wacky fears of bright lights and especially midday sun glaring off of car mirrors and shiny surfaces.
I had a thought about a way you might practice relaxing about seeing at night or in twilight. Maybe get some dark sunglasses and drive with them up and down your street a few times at twilight. Then remove them and notice how much more you can see with no sun
glasses. Oh, and remember to tap.
BTW, since our skype session last week my big discovery is that I’m not worrying about my unbalanced eyes. I’m very happy about their teamwork and haven’t bothered to check on whether or not leftie is pulling her share of the load..

Barbara, knowing you as well as I do (I'm so lucky!), if I may, one factor may be your spending less time outdoors, easily looking in the distance. Your eyes and brain optimize the functions you use most. I have other thoughts on this too, and what you can do about it, if you're interested. Your eyes are just waiting for some loving attention!

David, yes indeed! I think I started out anxious, then the strong eyeglasses trapped that feeling instead of letting me deal with it and let it go. So I'm doing that now. Better late than never!
