I agree, it's good to look at other perspectives on a problem like this including Jacob Liberman's. I'm big on analyzing data, but at the same time I have to be careful because there's more things going on that are affecting the outcome than what I'm looking at. Bates was big on the concept of relaxation, which isn't wrong, but he loads it up pretty heavily and I think there are other ways of understanding it.

I like how determined Dr. Bates was with this. Going in lengths into experiences to explain his findings and why other thoughts were around and how they got established.

He spent a considerable amount of time to show that the exterior muscles are what cause imperfect vision and not the lenses. The third paragraph under "Practical Results" is really the summary of all the work.

I think it is important to make the distinction between the findings and the cure. It seems to me that some people tend to over analyze the findings and they approach the cure with the same mindset that created their imperfect vision in the first place. Jacob Liberman's book "Take off your glasses and see" dives deep into changing to what he called "effortless seeing and learning". It is changing the approach itself or I guess I would rather call it "releasing the old way of seeing and letting your system see as humans are intrinsically meant to see and evolve if let be".

Thanks for sharing. Seeing more clearly with each passing day. Read Dr Bates' Perfect Sight without Glasses Nov 2018 immediately stopped wearing glasses with -8.5 in one eye and -9 in the other. Nov 2019 marked one year without dependency on glasses. Pretty sure Perfect Sight is in my future!

I'm seeing more and more that the weakening of 3d perception is a big factor!

If vision stress is the culprit. Lifestyles that rarely use the full focusing powers is the challenge. These are obviously personal. Changing the global myopic mindset for dynamic relaxed has to be a choice. the Bates Method has met the needs but while easy to do are easy not to do. Recovery from abusive time with two dimensional pixelated imagery can be done in a short walk accentuating all our senses - texture, perspective etc. As urgent knee jerk reactions often just a text message! Rule out the body and minds need to rest, reflect and dream. Our minds need to be observed to witness the connections that bring peace, intuitive impressions that direct us to a more purposeful life. We need to focus on the awesome abilities of our eyes providing stereoscopic imagery the skills that need to be practiced rather the hypothesize on the causes of weakening vision so easily resolved by optical correction. The pundits of the 19th century didn't appreciate the natural restful dynamic ability of eyes to scan and see moving objects in a very wide field of view; and optics reduce the eyes perception of peripheral vision with distorting of images from the lens edges; which drastically reduce the stereoscopic zone of viewing.
