What Don’t I Want To See?

Recently I held a vision coaching session with a woman who had never worn glasses, yet was starting to have difficulty seeing small print. I taught her palming, and we discussed what had changed in her life around the time her eyesight started giving her problems. Her son had recently left for college, so she had an “empty nest” at home now. She realized she could not see her new role clearly, since she had primarily been a mother caring for her dependent children for so long.

She is familiar with EFT, or Emotional Freedom Technique, the energy healing modality of tapping on acupuncture points with the fingers to move the energy and calm the system. We did a little tapping on letting her old role go, and how exciting it was (rather than frightening) that she could create the new role she wanted.

We also talked about looking in a relaxed way, rather than tensing up every time she approached a line of print because she expected to have trouble reading it. She’s a student with me in my energy medicine classes, but like many people considered the eyes as separate from the rest of the body, so more difficult to heal. I told her if something was blurry, to close her eyes and imagine what it could be, then gently open her eyes to look at it, then close her eyes and imagine it even clearer. Since she’s never worn glasses, she has plenty of memories of clear sight to call on.

The day after our lesson she wrote me a note thanking me and saying the tiny print on her iPhone was clearer.  She liked palming a lot, and I think her favorite technique was closing her eyes and imagining the print clearer. Anyone can do this. We have a lot more visual power than we give ourselves credit for.

I wore strong glasses, then contact lenses, from age 5 into my 40s. While making many mistakes, eventually l learned how to improve the way I use my eyes and to see in a more relaxed, healthy manner. It is my pleasure to coach others to do the same. Visit me at https://NancyLNeff.com.

hey Nancy!
What a timely message – thank you so much, I so relate: lately, I pull my reading glasses out a lot more. I even had my eyes measured and .. surprise surprise – the numbers got worse since the last measuring… I might need permanent glasses. When I never needed any.

And you said – empty nest.. what a … “coincidence”! Just what is happening to me – my girls leaving home, my life shifting yet again – so, creating a new role, you say… Guess some journalling is due for me – and I would love to know the points to tap :). Tapping my glasses away, would´t that be just great!!??!!

Wiebke, hi! You can find plenty of EFT videos on YouTube, some good, some not that helpful. For now I’d suggest:
1) Wear your reading glasses as little as possible. The more you depend on them, the more you’ll depend on them! Give the image a bit of time to clear up, before you reach for the glasses without even looking first.
2) Visualize yourself as clear-seeing with vibrant moist alive eyes. Telling yourself “My eyes are getting worse!” can become a self-fulfilling prophecy.
3) Gently tap with your fingers all around the eye socket on that orbital bone, seeing the chi or prana or energy moving, bringing in nourishment and removing toxins. Your eyes are joyously alive!

Perhaps we could do a Skype EFT vision session some time. You are so intuitive and self-aware you’d be a great student. Take care, my friend. Be well and see well!
