Subject: Finding a supportive OD -- who will give you "reduced" glasses.
Re: Tragially, some ODs will not -- or will give you an "argument" -- and no glasses.
There are some people who "pick up" on the concept of Bates, and, if not too "deep" into myopia, find that they can use his methods and clear their vision to normal (i.e., clear from a -1.5 diotper prescription) to normal. In fact a friend of mine, Alex Eulenberg had that prescription, and by using these methods, now has no need for a minus lens.
But if you are a little "deeper", and have a -2.5 diopter prescription, and can only clear the 20/50 line -- you will need a "reduced" prescription of about -0.75 diopters to pass the DMV 20/40 test.
Rather than pay $280 for exam an glasses (for each exam), a better way would be to buy your TEMPORARY -0.75 diopter glasses here for $15.

And use them ONLY for driving a car. (You must always be legal -- and that -0.75 diopter will do it).
Then, in a few months with more preveitve work, you will pass the 20/40 to 20/30 line. Once you do that you can "throw away" those $15 and not feel "too bad" about it.
