I found out about the bates method a couple weeks ago, at first i thought it was too good to be true, i searched around the net and found that it helped a lot of people and my eyesight is getting worse everyday. I don't know where to start, so i found this forum and i would appreciate it if someone could tell me what to do, like the exercises, im only 14 and i would really like to get my vision back to 20/20 like it was when i was 11. Thanks.

Welcome to the forum,

Do all the exercises try them out, palming, swinging, etc. Bates Method cannot be broken down into a program like a workout program. I am trying to get back the vision I had when I was around 11 as well, although I'm 16.

Basic shifting part to part on a object to see it clear. Avoid squinting: shift 'move' the eyes (your visual attention) part to part, object to object. Try shifting point to point. Use the nosefeather. Do some behavioral optometry switching, shifting on objects at close, middle, far distances with:
Both eyes together, one eye at a time, both eyes together again.
If vision is less clear in one eye, practice a little more with that eye, then both eyes together again for perfect clear balanced vision in the left and right eyes at all distances. Imagine, remember objects clear.

Palm, relax until you see total darkness.
Then imagine with perfect imagination something pleasant. DON'T fall asleep! Before open your eyes, think nothing and keep the memory or the totally black darkness. Open your eyes. You are cured.


Too good to be true?
Actually not...
You may need years to rebuild imagination and memory, and other years to gain faith and believe. So its not so good. Taking a magic pill and cured in a minute or in a week it is so good to be true, and its not true.

Palming is not an exercise. Is far more than that. Palming right is the way to 20/20, or even 40/10. Oh, lets face it, it might be possible to reach 20/2 like birds, who knows. No one can tell how far we can go.
But without the mental conditions that will allow this to take place, its not going to happen.


You are only 14? What this "only" means anyway? There is no age limit, we are not a Bar, or a Casino here to not let you in! Smile
No, no, you are 14. Just that. You are 14. Fact. There is no need to ad an "only". That's like admitting inferiority. Maybe you are not feeling good about your age, maybe you want to grow up, maybe you feel that being 14 is bad and you are week, maybe you have developed a little subconscious hypomania. Here! Such conditions can cause a lot of strain, even if you are not aware of their existence.
You believe is possible that a feeling about your age causes your vision to get worse?

You have to be glad you are starting at 14. Young men and girls can benefit much more than adults. You took a difficult decision, and this shows an amount of mental maturity. And the search you did shows intelligence. Good for you!

I know people that can't make that decision in their 20's or even 50's...
