New Camera that works similar to Dr Bates premise

I stumble on this article today about a new camera that does not need focus lenses to take clear pictures.

Basically, the camera will capture the light images and the software within the camera will do the focusing of the image afterwards.

I think this basically kinda like our eyes.

The eyes is the instrument that captures the light and image.
Our brain is the software that processes the focus of the image afterwards.
