Required Visual Acuity Standards - otis - 01-07-2008
I know we ALL want very, VERY sharp vision. That is the goal.
But some compromise must be understood.
If a child is 20/60, then he needs to "improve" to
a reasonable level of 20/40 or better.
The LEGAL standard around the world is 20/40 or
better (both eyes open). Here is
the statement of this standard for your interest.

So if you confirm your Snellen at 20/40, there is no
LEGAL reason to wear a minus.
I do not state this as the FINAL step, only
the intermediate step, of working towards
20/20.
Best,
Otis
