Yes, I think it's fear that makes someone need to see everything at once. Anxiety and nervousness and worry are just milder forms of fear. And the neuro-chemicals (like adrenaline) which ramp up when you're afraid are the same ones which ramp up when you're excited, or enthusiastic, so I've been trying to shift my mental outlook to that state. If you know you're safe and can handle things, you'll be excited at new unexpected input. If you don't feel safe you'll be afraid.
