Hello!
It's probably not dangerous. Start gradually and go at your own speed. If you feel any discomfort or pain, palm for 1-2 minutes and everything should be okay.

William H. Bates said that reading fine print is a benifit because it can't be done (or done easily) if you strain. It also require more central fixation to do that.

Aldous Huxley probably said that because he was nearly blind or something else. I don't know why. :o

Sounds like it should be but it is in fact good for your eyes.
