Incorporating centralisation into my day.

Hey there, I have recently read that we should try to apply centralisation to what we see at all waking hours. Could someone elaborate on this a bit more? Does it just mean that whenever I look at anything I should only focus on a tiny portion of it and then shift to another? I am struggling with this a bit at the moment and any tips would be appreciated.

Centralisation is not so much a deliberate effort but a recognition of what actually is. You only see one part of something very clearly, and an even smaller part very very clearly. From one tiny spot in the centre of your field of vision it gets progressively worse out to your periphery - basically to a colourless blur. Our clever minds interpret our vision to be clear and full of colour wherever we can see, but that is not the case.

Myopic people tend to attempt to see a larger portion of their field of vision more clearly than it actually is, and they believe they succeed. Practising centralisation means that you try to start to recognise that a portion of your field of vision is most clear, and that is precisely where you're looking.

With this in mind the "exercises" you may have read about might make more sense to you.

So then it is more a passive recognition of only seeing the point directly regarded more clearly, rather than actively trying to make it clearer than the other things around it? That makes a lot more sense as the latter sort of led to staring/straining which is just the opposite of what we are trying to achieve. Thanks bjsilva that clarifys it a lot.
