I read David's Method a few days ago and started applying it.
My prescription before I started:
OD Sph: -7.25 Cyl: -0.75 Axis: 6
OS Sph: -7.75 Cyl: -0.50 Axis:170
The prescription on the weaker glasses I bought recently off Zenni:
OD Sph: -6.25
OS Sph: -6.75
So far I've worn the glasses without taking them off for 3 full days straight. I am trying to consciously remind myself to do Centralization all the time. Because of astigmatism I am seeing a doubles at far distances.
I don't know if it's my head that's messing with me, but it feels like my vision is improving. It also feels like every morning I wake up, my vision is better. Today I walked around the city wearing these glasses and it was crazy. I had mini clear flashes that lasted a second. When I focus on doing centralization my eyes start to get a little watery, and sometimes I can make out numbers and letters from really far distances.
I wonder how long it will take for me to get to 20/20 with these lenses, maybe a month of continuous wear?
The problem is at night my vision gets much blurrier. If I go out with my friends at night I want to be able to see better so I am tempted to wearing my older frames just at night. I don't know if this will revert my progress. During the day I can wear the weaker frames without a problem.
As far as lifestyle, I follow the paleo diet, and I exercise 3-4 times a week, which may be contributing to my quick eye recovery. Time will tell, will see where I am in two weeks from now, hopefully I will start to see a pattern. If it takes me a month of wearing weaker frames to get to 20/20 per diopter then technically speaking I can go from -6 to to 0 in 6 months.
Sounds good. Flashes already. Great! I think you will improve fast. Try doing what you been practicing without glasses and have another reduction ready.
If things are blurry; shift on the blur. Relax with it. Less you try to see the faster, easier clarity will occur.
There's a lot of posts on here about astigmatism, double images and how they will clear up. I espicially like Nancy's bravery; she went without astigmatism in the glasses and made it through even when the walls were all weaving. I think thats what she said. Check her posts.
Wearing the old strong glasses will probally reverse your progress, or slow it. Try to avoid them.
Watery eyes is not a bad thing; it can be a sign the eyes are returning to normal. Often tears will help improve the vision and cleanse the eyes. Shift with relaxation and let the eyes water. When the eye muscles, nerves relax the tear gland muscle, nerves also relax and circulation in the eye improves. The tear gland might be thinking; finally, I can catch up on my work!
Wow, my vision has been improving every day. It's crazy. When I wear my older glasses they're too strong, I stopped wearing them at night a week ago.
I'm going to order a new pair now off Zenni which I'm only going to wear when I'm at home, and then wear my "September prescription" when I go out, once my vision is close to 20/20 with the September perscription I will ditch them, and then wear the October ones when I go out.. And this is the pattern I will follow until I get to perfect vision.

It is not possible to have clear flashes when you wear glasses. It is as impossible as your legs getting stronger when you use a walker or the muscles of the arm and your kinesiology not deteriorating while in a cast.

More pain for me, just from reading this extravagant tall-tale. When you wear glasses you will always have to see and strain mentally under the error of refraction the lenses were ground and created for. Thus everytime you get a new pair of glasses there will be discomfort, headaches and unpleasantness while your seeing organ and mind adapt to the level of strain needed to see with those glasses. Which means if you adapt to one pair of glasses, of course another pair of a different diopter you wore before, will feel odd, not right. You have to adapt to any change in diopter. This does not mean you are making the progress you imagine yourself to be making here.
Can I ask where you got this nonsense idea of wearing glasses 24/7 to "improve your vision"(sic)? I remember reading the Quackenbush butcher make his stupid claim that you can practice while wearing glasses, but even he was not as nuts as you to claim that the glasses should never leave your face!
Hey Qule! Great! Try to go with no glasses. You are improving a lot and you don't need glasses (unless for driving, anything requiring a certain level of clarity for your safety and even then use reduced lenses so you are not reversing back to strong glasses.). If you stop the glasses you will get to 20/20 and be free of those crutches.
If you have any uncomfortable emotions, feelings when spending time without glasses; try some EFT, or palming mixed with the color chart to release these feelings. This will also remove tension in the mind/visual system and that will travel to the eyes further improving the vision; http://cleareyesight.info/id49.html
It's combined from the Robert Monroe Institute relaxation, visualization, energy technique, (gateway, discovery) and Laurie Cabot, other relaxation, brain wave control methods.

I still can't go without glasses in my home.. maybe not for another 3 months.. Once I am able to safely operate in my home then I will ditch the glasses. I do however take off my glasses when I'm not doing anything in particular and just relaxing, but as far as cooking and other activities go, I still need them.
RoyFokker, I realize "Rishi" has taught you that the way to vision improvement is to belittle everyone else, but you're not gaining anything by imitating him, and here you're going to have to find a way to be respectful of others when disagreeing.
Qlue, I've been easing into a paleo diet myself. I cut out wheat completely. I had a couple non-paleo things yesterday after a week of being consistent and could really feel the effects. Some polenta gave me instant brain fog that lasted most of a day, and corn flakes made me want to lie down and go right to sleep. It would be interesting to know if the increase in energy levels from a paleo diet helps people with vision improvement. Regular exercise too.

Actually, I remember having some short clear flashes when I had under-corrected glasses on. Moreover, legs can get stronger when you're using a walker.
I still don't really know what to think about clear flashes in general, i.e. are they genuine improvement, or just a contact-lens like result of manipulating the eyes? One thing's for sure: just because you get clear flashes doesn't mean you're on your way to normal 20/20 vision.
Remember; Be careful who you learn from; Rhishi posed as Kazekage on this Forum and tried to steal the Better Eyesight Magazine PDF I bought from David. He also downloads all my PDF books free by posing as low income natural vision students in need of help then resells, publishes them on his Italian and English websites, bookstores. He is probably on here again right now under a new personality, maybe two.
He advises the Sunglass, a magnifying glass. I prefer this to be done only in cases of blindness, extreme problems (if needed) and only by a Bates Method Ophthalmologist. Sad the way he is because he has a lot of good ideas, preserves Bates work, but he ruins it by being so crazy, a power, king of the hill mentality.
Rhishi talked to me on Skype after I contacted him and told him many people in Europe, teachers, students say he is 'S. Yung' an abusive 1 star Natural Eyesight Improvement book reviewer that attacks Thomas Quackenbush and my books on Amazon.com because we supply Better Eyesight Magazine at a low price. Rhishi says no one should teach but him and he says people must pay a high price; $250.00 plus tax, shipping for the magazines or they are not worthy to learn. He tried to talk me into un-publishing all my books, especially the magazines and then sell for him in the U.S. Went behind my back to my publishers when I refused and always contacting Amazon trying to get my and others 5 star book reviews, comments, accounts deleted.
Do not give him any of your personal information. He has a crooked side to him.
His secret and real names are; Rishi Giovanni Gatti, Rishi John Gatti, Kazekage, William Horatio Bates, Vinney. He has a few cult like followers that pose⦠for him but most eventually leave the Group.
He laughed as he said someone he knows stole and re-sold Davidâs Better Eyesight Magazine PDF for thousands of dollars in Europe. He wants to know how much money Thomas Quackenbush makes and strongly dislikes him. Very jealous, controlling personality.
Glad I can speak the truth here. Itâs negative, I sound like a little kid but people should know who they are dealing with. Speaking up on the groups, forums, Amazon, telling the truth about healthy and harmful methods, teachers, authors has resulted in retaliation in the form of abusive 1 star book reviews but thatâs the price I will pay.
David; I notice I can't eat spaghetti, the dried, processed kind like I used to. Was thinking its allergy as get older or is China again sneaking in that plastic power in their wheat they sell us. Was on the news last year. It was found in a lot of food. We owe china so much money I wonder if our govt. lets things slide..? I like the fresh stir fried rice noodles at the gambling Casino in San Bruno, Artichoke Joes. Will look into this paleo thing.
Clark, the wheat we eat now is not the wheat of our grandmothers. It's been genetically modified to have fewer strands of DNA or something like that so it is more pest-resistant and more of a profit can be made on it, and many people are allergic to it now. You can find more about this if you do some research. I do not eat wheat. Also if you're blood type O like I am you should focus on lean meat or fish and vegetables, not so much grains (which are more suitable for type As).
Mary, I'm a long-time reader of your posts, and it was with dismay that I read your last post. I have a bone to pick with your insinuation (or accusation, rather) that the Chinese are intentionally trying to poison other countries with tainted wheat exports. I'm American but have lived and worked extensively in China, and have Chinese ancestry, and am more than a little offended, because criticisms of China in the West are increasingly used to impugn individual Chinese people and indeed the entire ethnic group. If you took an honest look at the sorts of things people say, it would be disingenuous to say that the negative attitude towards China in the West is only about "their government."
Most Chinese people would be the first to tell you that Chinese-made products continue to frequently have quality-control and safety-related issues, partly because the economy is still so chaotic, kind of like before the Progressive era and Teddy Roosevelt in the U.S. There are many things wrong with the way things currently are in China (as is the case in other countries) and most Chinese people would also be the first to tell you that China is far behind the West still in a lot of ways. For example, it is with great embarrassment that most Chinese people hear press accounts of tainted products not only in China but also in the West. Such issues are CONSTANTLY the topic of discussions on online forums like Sina Weibo -- I know it because I know the language and can actually read stuff on the Chinese blogosphere. There are some greedy, unethical manufacturers that cut corners to make a bigger profit, and the government safety oversight mechanism has much room for improvement. However, comments such as yours are not constructive. The VAST majority of Chinese people are not evil and out to get you, contrary to the demagoguery that you may be hearing in the presidential election campaign ads (if you're American, that is.) Once you get to know Chinese people as individuals, you'll figure out that a lot of the generalizations you hear about simply aren't true. I don't mean to politicize this thread and go off on a tangent (though I wasn't the one to get things sidetracked in the first place), but I felt it necessary to counter a pervasive and unfair opinion about an entire nation. That this blame-everything-on-China phenomenon has penetrated even my favorite eyesight-improvement forum is an indication of how irrational the public discussion has become. Okay, now back to eyesight improvement topics.
You are wrong, Rishi is very kind, kinder than most modern Bates teachers, who won't do anything without money. What he has no tolerance for is charlatan Bates teachers and people who make up nonsense that misleads other people. Sadly on this forum right now most don't even seem to have read Bates 1920 work and at least a hundred pages of his better Eyesight Magazines. Thus most don't even have an intellectual conception of his method -- let alone the greater difficulty in actually implementing it. The prospects are very dim.
What Qlue is doing is making things up. If wearing glasses 24/7 and merely backtracking in prescription without making any changes but mechanically and consciously moving your eyes while wearing them was all it took, everyone could and would do it. Just to see if I am unfair I checked the "Success Stories" subsection and I only found one person in the front page of that section to claim that out of the entire forum userbase they obtained perfected eyesight: Success With Bate's Concepts by Wynn
Yet that poster is selling something to people, advertised in her sig. Further, she is not a good faith participant in this site, having only ever posted in that thread! So we cannot believe her claims, and really we have none. Rishi, would attack people like her and Qlue for good reason, IMHO. Being nice does not matter, compared to being right. When you are wrong in a context like this forum, you could mislead other people and make them quit on the path before they learn what really applying themselves means.
Do you think I write just to write or be mean? Look at the success section to see if what I write is true or not. If all you had to do was wear glasses 24/7, everyone would have had success! That involves no "patient compliance" as they say, nor hardship. Sadly on this forum lots don't even have an intellectual knowledge of Bates' writings so there is a good danger you could actually start a trend. I noticed earlier, closer to 2006 people would actually countermand the type of stuff you write here, but that seems no longer the case sadly.
FYI, my prescription when last checked in late 2011 was OD -5.50 sph, OS -6.00 sph and PD 6.25 cm. I bicycle down hills like this just fine:
Granted I am not trying to undercorrect without an eye exam apparently like you, but you are being overly dramatic about not being safe in the house. There are no lions or sharks inside houses to kill you. Surely if I can ride down such hills, even at night on a bicycle(of course at night I use front and rear lights and would advocate it even for people with perfect sight) without dying, you can merely lounge inside much easier without dying.
You never answered, where did you get this notion of wearing glasses all the time for a cure of imperfect vision? Much as I dislike modern teachers, even they won't stoop to that.
This is the exact problem with Bates teachers and their advocates, and it is good you illustrate it. Rishi advocates or made up the sunglass? Nope, only William Horatio Bates did, and Rishi is a bit of purist and rightly so, so he just echoes the man who started the whole modern concept and methods of vision improvement. Sadly since his death in 1931, 81 years ago thanks to the kind of talk and ideas you represent, the only progress that has happened is in a backwards direction -- a regression.
In Buddhism they say mind is a combination of emptiness, cognizance and a unity of those two. They teach to focus on the emptiness and cognizance of mind essence to produce calm and happiness. Without knowing of this, Bates did similar with vision, breaking vision to its component: light via sun treatment and darkness via palming. Most vision occurs somewhere between the extreme of the white light of the sun and the darkness of palming and if you cannot do one or either perfectly, as Bates observed your vision is imperfect. What you advocate is to bastardize his treatment and remove the sunglass, rendering his teachings less effective and robbed of their true power and insight due to your fear.
Sorry about that. Didn't mean to offend the Chinese people or your ancestry. I worked for a married Chinese couple a few years and liked them very much. I am speaking of the corruption in their government and some of the big businesses. They even poisoned their own people; read the articles on the baby food, candy, pet food. In every nationality, including the U.S there are people in power that are corrupt. Its sad but true.
