Hi,

There isn't actually much to tell about blinking. You should blink easily (softly) and frequently enough, like you would naturally do to keep your eyes watered. If you open your eyes too wide and/or prevent yourself from blinking, you will strain, which is bad. In reverse, if you blink too hard, like some people do to create what they erroneously think is a "clear flash", you will strain too. Just keep it natural and it will be ok.

When you blink, your eyball turns up for an instance, so each blink is a little "quake" for the eye. It catalyzes the process that is currently happening in your eye. If you are having a clear flash and keep relaxing further, blink will make your flash even deeper. If you began straining back again, blink will stop your clear flash. That is why many people report that their clear flashes last only until they blink. The true clear flashes do not depend on blinks.

I agree with Oleg, a clear flash should last more than one blink or it is not truly a clear flash.  It is instead a hard blink that changes the shape of the cornea - like a squint - or too much moisture like a teardrop was on the eye.
