You Own Trial-Lens Kit for $190
#1
A typical exam to determine your refractive STATE
costs about $100.

If you are serious about vision-clearing, here
is a low cost trial-lens kit to confim your results
if the IVAC Snellen is not enough to
confirm your success with the Bates methods.

Please note:  There is no law against:

1.  Making your own measurements with Snellen or

2.  Trial lens kit.

If you "prescribed" from this measurement, then
that might be an issue.

But if you only wanted to measure your
refractive STATE -- then there is no
law against doing so.

How would you propose that one deal with the effect quite commonly understood as "investigator bias?"

Hope, belief, and faith can have a powerful influence on those who wish for a particular outcome.

How does that get controlled for with a DIY trial lens kit?

Dear Second-opinion friends,

Here is Neil Brooks POWERFUL method of
clearing your vision using his method, your
own IVAC Snellen and a trial lens kit.

Keep an open mind.  He might be right.

Here's a PubMed citation about it:

<!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/sites/entrez">http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/sites/entrez</a><!-- m -->

I (and others) use a homemade fabric "sack," filled with uncooked rice
or corn, warm it in the microwave (NOT hot), and put it over my closed
eyes for 10+ minutes. Presumably, this is increasing circulation and
relieving accommodative stress in the ciliaries.

It's also a prescribed treatment for meibomian gland dysfunction--a
cause of evaporative dry eye. People with MGD do the warming,
followed by a "gland expression." This helps them to restore the
lipid layer to their tear film--yet another critical component to
sharp vision.

I do it after computer use and, habitually, a couple times each day.

> - good visual hygiene

It's any and all of the things discussed at links like these:

<!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.healthy.net/oep/HYGIENE.HTM">http://www.healthy.net/oep/HYGIENE.HTM</a><!-- m -->

<!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.pavevision.org/stressreduction.htm">http://www.pavevision.org/stressreduction.htm</a><!-- m -->

Because of my hyperopia, ciliary hypertonicity, astigmatism, alignment
issues, AND well-documented history of accommodative spasm, I can be
considered an extreme case. I spend a relatively inordinate amount of
time in the fresh air, exercising (running, hiking, rollerblading,
cycling, etc.).

Again, the substantial accommodative stress, over years, did not
change my underlying prescription at all. Nonetheless, the
accommodative stress IS symptomatic for me, so keeping it at bay is
essential. For those who DO believe that the accommodative stress
DOES change underlying refractive error, well, ... I have found no
better, safer way to eliminate that risk than the methods I've adopted.

It's also well sanctioned by the ... um ... "majority-opinion" eye
doctors.

I also do "ocular motility" exercises each morning (pick any Bates or
yoga traditions). I don't know that they do anything for me, but I
see them as highly unlikely to hurt.

Good luck!

Neil

Thank you.

That both completely clears up the "investigator bias" question AND fits in with the underlying thread topic of trial lens kits.
