I've just noticed you put off the 'Sceptic' subforum. It did recently stir some discussion up.

You'll decide whether to bring it back or not but I think that a short description under the name of each subforum would help a lot since a good number of posts is about what a certain subforum is dedicated to. New members and even some old ones don't know what is desired to be promoted on certain subforum and what is against the spirit of it.

A sentence or two would make it clear once and for all.

.................................................................................

My mistake. This kind of description does exist. Somehow I didn't see it. Well, people with poor vision come to this web-site...]]>

Suggestion; Main reason I had a very hard time helping people on here (this past months) improve their vision and kept fighting with 'certain people' is; there are a small amount of members who prefer to; use, advise only permanent eyeglasses, avoid the Bates Method and disrupt threads teaching the Bates Method.
99% of members are true Bates people, and also teach other helpful natural skills. The 1% I had to fight against were following me to every thread and chat I post on and telling the students to not use the Bates Method... It was very frustrating, wore me out trying to teach in that atmosphere.

Idea; I realize we already have a Bates Method thread/forum but;
If we could have a strictly Bates Method section, maybe a sub forum of the Bates forum where all eyeglasses and 'other unnatural methods' people are not allowed to post, that would be great. Bates teachers would not get burnt out posting over and over trying to tell the students what to avoid, who to avoid, trying to defend the Bates Method. We could relax, just teach and the student will learn and achieve clear eyesight quickly...

That's what it's all about, helping people see clear naturally.

Thanks for listening,

Clark]]>

Idea;

I know I said this in the past; I am hoping for a video chat. As you know with my neck injury and also a lot of other projects and in the past due to the trolls following around I no longer post much.

But; If there is video communication I would pop by sometimes. This way I can know who I am talking to and also save my arms, neck from all that typing when training people.

Want to thank you for improving the chat so people have to pretty much show their true identify to post. And thank you for new moderation... of members. Looks better.

We want to hear your voice;

Place a audio, (maybe with video) introduction on the website.

Maybe add in the basic things people need to know about the Bates Method, 5... things that can help the vision improve. Then direction on where to go on the site for various articles, forum, functions...]]>

<![CDATA[voting on articles - thumbs up/down or 5-star voting?]]> https://www.iblindness.org/forum/showthread.php?tid=2444 Sun, 06 Oct 2013 19:29:25 +0000 https://www.iblindness.org/forum/showthread.php?tid=2444
The new site will have a rating system for people to rate articles submitted by the contributing authors (including me). The highest rated articles will get the most exposure. But after a couple weeks of considering it, I can't decide what type of rating system to use.

Note that there will NOT be ratings for forum posts. I want to keep the forum flowing freely.

Thumbs up - The same as a Facebook "like". Prevents feelings of resentment at getting downvoted. But the information this system provides is limited.

Thumbs-up/thumbs-down - Tracks the plus or minus rating, and the number of total votes. So you get information about what articles are disliked and what articles are the most contentious (the vote is split).

1-5 star rating -People usually vote either 1 star or 5 stars, so it may be overly complex for what is needed.

What do you think? Any other possibilities?]]>

Recently with the help of some very kind people on this forum I was able to learn Dreamweaver and download my entire website and transfer it to new much better and secure hosting services. This preserves Dr. Bates magazines.
They taught me a lot about website creation and how to store, protect the websites in backups and on-line.

I have Dr. Bates Better Eyesight Magazine website in Dreamweaver. If David wants, he may have a copy to attach to this website. It's done and ready to upload, go live. Here's the original; http://cleareyesight-batesmethod.info/na...efault.htm

Some people prefer only Dr. Bates original training. As people know, I studied the magazines and was also trained by Modern teachers and have added some comments (in blue) and pictures to the magazines. These can be removed if David prefers to keep the magazines strictly by Dr. Bates.
My web address and banner... can also be removed/changed.
I will do this for him if he likes, will take only a couple hours to delete the blue text, pics... Or he can tell me what to remove or do it himself.

Having the magazines on this website will keep people here where the mags are complete and no misspellings. 4 spell checks done.

Sometimes I place some articles by Dr. Bates from his magazines on the Chat when there's people on there but no one has posted for a long time but people complain it fills up too much space. If I place only a short title of the article, then link to the mags, people say I am spamming. Sometimes I think some of these people are persons selling Natural Eyesight Improvement or the complete 132 issues of the magazines for a very high price and do not want people knowing they have access to free Eyesight training and Dr. Bates magazines. If the mags were here, "the most popular, true Bates Method website, forum on the internet", it would give all people access to the best, with fast research, easy to learn practices and fast vision improvement!

I also have a few other doctors books in text that can be added. As of now I just link to GoogleBooks.

Let me know if you want a copy. It's quick to upload and I will get to work removing my quotes, pics, address you prefer.]]>

I thought it would be really helpful to have people which have successfully cured themselves to aid others with the method. Such help is definateley invaluable ,because it's really important to do the exercises right. As you might have read bates' patients have almost always achieved some solid improvement just after first visit and complete cures have been affected as well. "Bates Guide" would assist single selected person thouought the entire treatement. When he's done he would be allowed to take another "student". It could be fun and rewarding to accually be such mentor ,though I'm aware not everyone has the time to do so. The help would be given via private messages or some hidden theads, while on the forum we would have specific section for assigning guides.
I know there are bates teachers but you need to pay them well and not everyone has one easily avaliable where they live.

I think I am a little unclear Tongue , if you have any questions, please ask me or check out the other forum(The idea was based on "Dream Guides" form this forum. I am sorry if this looks like advertisement. :-[ )

I am not sure if this is a good idea but just giving some suggestions. Smile]]>

The poll is only for times on Sunday. I wasn't sure which day would work best for everyone, but most people are free at some point on Sundays. If another day would suit you better, please, post a reply to this thread to let me know. Also, the poll only allowed 20 options, so I had to remove a few times.

Now, I know this chatroom currently has a limit to how many people can be logged in, but if it fills up then, I dunno know, maybe we can find another chatroom service to use or something.

Once enough people have answered the poll question, I'll try and schedule a time that works best for most people. We could even have two or three meetups at different times on Sunday to fit everyone's schedules.]]>
