Bates and reading glasses may look different, but they have strong similarities. Reading at the edge of the focus is the same as read a semi-blurred Snellen and shift in it. Wearing a reduced prescription could left room for improvement like the no glasses Bates preached.

The glasses are an obstacle to the normal use of the eye, but if a person has a very high myopia no glasses can be very bad too.
