Do you guys do yoga or breathing exercises which benefited your eyesight? If so, where did you learn to do so (such as websites) because i am quite interested to start yoga or autogenics. O0 O0 O0
I do Yoga stretches and thats about it. Its an addictive habit.
Some caution about breathing though: I tried some breathing techniques for a while and it made me overbreathe causing a whole set of weird physical symptoms. Had some dealings before I got rid of that 'bad' habit.
Although I would recommend reading some about breathing techniques. There are many and not all of them just like there are many bates techniques.
These online videos look very promising, especially the 30-day approach. I noticed the first thing she has you do on day 1 is like the long swing, but not moving the legs. I don't know yet whether she does anything eye-related.
I think, as Bates is all about relaxation, a breathing method that focuses on that is essential. I would encourage the practice of mindfulness breath meditation. Mindfulness is a type of meditation written about and taught by a University of Massachusetts Medical Professor emeritus, Jon Kabat-Zinn.
Here is a quick lesson:
"Breathing Meditation 1 (Kabat-Zinn 1996)
Assume a comfortable posture lying on your back or sitting. If you are sitting, keep the spine straight and let your shoulders drop.
Close your eyes if it feels comfortable.
Bring your attention to your belly, feeling it rise or expand gently on the inbreath and fall or recede on the outbreath.
Keep your focus on the breathing, âbeing withâ each inbreath for its full duration and with each outbreath for its full duration, as if you were riding the waves of your own breathing.
Every time you notice that your mind has wandered off the breath, notice what it was that took you away and then gently bring your attention back to your belly and the feeling of the breath coming in and out.
If your mind wanders away from the breath a thousand times, then your âjobâ is simply to bring it back to the breath every time, no matter what it becomes preoccupied with.
Practice this exercise for fifteen minutes at a convenient time every day, whether you feel like it or not, for one week and see how it feels to incorporate a disciplined meditation practice into your life. Be aware of how it feels to spend some time each day just being with your breath without having to do anything."
