Can anyone tell me if this is good? It's kinda driving me nuts.
Everything seems to be moving too fast. At the near distance too. The letters are actually jumping. At the far distance it's creating multiple images.
Any ideas?
Did this happen before or after starting Bates Method? Jumping sounds like the 'swing' - oppositional movement of objects when the eye shifts. This is normal. When first practicing to improve the vision the eye muscles are usually tight and need relaxation. When there is tension, tight muscles the eyes move in a rigid, sputtery motion and the swing will also appear this way and can be larger than normal. With practice the eyes, muscles relax, the eyes move easy and the swing is improved; no more jumpy, exaggerated movement.
Search for other posts on the forum for double, multiple images; usually seen as the blur is clearing and the eyes, muscles, brain are coordinating, synchronizing, relaxing. It's temporary and a good thing, a sign that the vision is improving. Get the vision equal in each eye. Do shifting, tracing, central fixation on the lines on a astigmatism chart; look at, work on one line at a time. Blink, relax.

Yes, this started with the bates, but I can't really say - because before that my eyes were glasses-"frozen".
What do you mean by tracing? Isn't that contradictory to shifting?
Also, what is the astigmatism chart? Is it this?

Reut, tracing is just outlining a shape with your eyes like you would with a crayon, using your "magic nose-pencil" some of the vision teachers like Carina Goodrich talk about. You want the eye to be able to move smoothly in every direction. Yes, the chart you gave would be good, or the traditional Tibetan Cross or Tibetan Wheel (google it).
You want to easily shift the gaze from the center out along each arm then back in, noticing where your eyes get stuck and spending a little more time there.
Sounds like it is just the eyes returning to normal movement. Yes; if they were frozen from glasses, it might take a while to get the movement completely normal, relaxed.
Tracing is not perfect normal shifting but you can use it to help the eyes obtain good movement, return to normal shifting. Some teachers show pictures of the area to trace away from the edge of the object. This is wrong; you want to trace on the edges of the object for good central fixation. Do it with ease, no effort to be perfect. Avoid tension in the eyes, neck. Don't try to be exact; let the eyes do it on their own.
