I think there's so much good info that's buried in old threads on this forum that it'd be good to revamp them and work off of those than to try and start a new one over the same topic. If there was a way to have top rated threads appear to the side of the forum, or to have a "suggested threads" list for certain topics I think that would help a lot. Then people could add onto those and continue the discussion from there, with them already caught up to speed by reading through the old posts.

Being as forums aren't really set up for this, you might have better luck just bumping the ones you like, or quoting from them the key points and posting your own refresher thread on it with the good points from the old thread.
Super long threads also hurt readability. ^^
If specific threads are really of huge value, then admins should just sticky them. ( I don't imagine there are too many of these )
