Pinhole Glasses in a mainstream magazine

They are similar to pinhole glasses. My ones cost 2.99 on ebay and these are like 20 pounds.

My mum was reading a a magazine and stumbled acorss this advert, and it reminded her of the ones I used to wear.

Why are they so ugly? Whats wrong with the standard sunglasses style pinhole glasses that are everywhere now?
