Can you try palming laying down? It may be more difficult for you to prop up your arms, but it may help. You can always perform another bates technique while you rest your arms though.

Don't worry about a little bit of light getting in while you're palming, the goal is only to exclude most of the light, your eyelids should filter out most of the rest. As for the circulation problem...

Even if the change was 10 mm, it doesn't really matter. The eye would be returning to the shape that it was supposed to have all along.

I seem to remember hearing somewhere that a millimeter of variation in the size and shape of the eyeball would produce 14 diopters of change, so a few diopters should be nothing!
