What is meant by energy in the eyes? I guess you are equating eye strain or gritty eyes with lack of energy? Eyes that feel tired due to lack of sleep?

These dont appear to be the halos of glaucoma etc. I have seen similar thing when looking at the sun with eyes closed. The eyelids are not opaque which would permit such a thing under very bright cond...
