You might try putting an extra pillow under each arm to prop it up, so your arms don't get tired when you palm lying down. The less strain anywhere in your body, the better!

I have anecdotal evidence from myself (measured as elongated enough to need -7.50 the last time I saw the eye doctor several years ago when I was wearing -5.50 most of the time and had started at -10)...
