Spend a lot of time outsidde without lenses, and find a side street in your neighborhood you can walk in the center of, looking straight down the middle of the street into the distance as you walk.

You started only a diopter worse than I did. You don't have to change your job and you definitely don't need glasses to use a computer at your station if you put your face close enough to the monitor...
